Nick was awarded a top performer in 2017 award with his company and as a result we were invited to “THE MAIN EVENT” this year to join in the festivities with the other recipients. We decided to extend our stay by a few days (Thanks to my lovely Mommy) so we could enjoy some fun in the some post company activities as well. Miami was absolutely beautiful. This time of year the weather ranged from 75-85 daily with little humidity. It only rained one night and the rest of the trip was ideal vacation weather. Below are some of our favorite memories from the trip!
Day 1: We pretty much traveled the entire day with mega delays on everything from baggage, to flight times etc… We were pretty exhausted by the time we arrived. Had a quick bite at the hotel bar / lounge while watching an NBA playoff game and call it a night.
Day 2: We woke up intending to run but by the time we strolled out of bed the sun was shining just a bit too bright for a run so we hit the town by foot but walking instead. We ended up at the FL Cafe for a lovely breakfast followed by a quick trip to Walgreens to get some essentials for our week. Then we opted to hit the private beach for the LOEWS guests. That afternoon we officially checked into the company event, got some new sunglasses, silk screened on the spot t shirts, flip flops and some refreshments. That evening there was a dinner / dance to welcome everyone to the event in the main ballroom of the hotel. It poured that evening so there was no pizza deliveries available so we just netflixed and chilled after the festivities were over.
Day 3: We joined the company for an early breakfast followed by the awards ceremony for the attendees. The company commissioned an artist to make superhero characters of all the recipients though surprising Batman was missing from all the drawings. Mike Robbins was a phenomenal guest speaker. We followed the breakfast by hopping on a boat to go on an everglades tour. First stop was lunch where they fed us Frog Legs and Gator Bites. Nick and I both were adventurous enough to try them but didn’t eat much after that. The everglades tour was fun. We did see a few gators, turtles and birds. That evening we had a lovely outdoor beach party with the company at Nikki Beach. Nikki Beach was BEAUTIFUL! We were greeted by Mojitos at the door followed by custom water drip painted scarves that each of got to make. There was Bocce Balls on the sand with glow in the dark equipment and music throughout. We got to have professional photos taken at the event themed sand castle. The food was okay, so Nick and I walked into town and picked up a pizza on our way home. Netflix and Chill at night.
Day 4: We joined the company in the morning for a casual breakfast at the hotel and then everyone dispersed for the days events. We took the thrill speed boat tour and shopping near star island. The boats went up to 50 miles per hour on the water and they played party music pretty much for the duration of the hour so it was like attending a house party on the water! We went to the beach when we returned to the resort and started our collection of shells for Jatin. That evening we had the closing festivities at the Museum of Modern Art with a live band. And the company announced that next year’s event will be held in Nashville. Again, the event was beautiful, the food was okay so we ended up at a local sandwich street shop, got an egg salad sandwich to go and went home and yup you guessed it we Netflixed and Chilled!
Day 5: We finally woke up early enough to enjoy some cooler weather and we went for a beautiful run along Ocean with Art Deco Buildings on one side and the Ocean and Sand on the other. We followed that up by a little bit of Gym time, then got ready for our day and got a Lyft to Wynwood Garden. After taking in all the gorgeous buildings, we had pizza at Joey’s in the Wynwood District. We were exhausted, went back and napped. That evening we had reservations at Nusr-Et Steakhouse. We are both huge fans of “SaltBae” and his over the top style of cutting and seasoning meats, but had heard that the chances of him actually being at his restaurant are very slim. We went anyway just to enjoy the food and to experience something new. To our surprise we walked in and the man himself was there for the evening! He had just flown into town that morning. It was the most fun / epic experience we have had at a restaurant. He greeted all his guests by coming over to our table and saying hello. Then when I said can we take a photograph he said “Of Course – Let’s do a Selfie – I do the selfie” and he took Nicks phone 🙂 After that we ordered a Ribeye and a Fried Onion. The best part is all captured in videos and photographs below…but basically SaltBae himself came up and personally cut and seasoned our food for us. We were checked on by 5 different people from the restaurant throughout the night and they were so attentive to details. Everything was immaculate and we finished every last drop of our food. It was DELICIOUS!! That evening we took a beautiful stroll along the beach and basked in all the glory of SaltBae!
Day 6: We took it easy. We walked to an outdoor mall on Lincoln and fell in love with the Pop Artist Romero Britto. We purchased a few pieces for the home “Dog & Hearts” and “Huge 1” from the Britto Galleries. We had a lovely lunch outside and hit the beach to hunt for a few more shells for the kiddos. We finished our our Netflix and Chill and watched “Love Per Square Foot” and found the names of the main character Misquitoo and DeSuza hilarious 🙂
Day 7: We hit the gym, spa, sauna. Went searching for the best tacos in Miami. Found some really good ones, and some really bad ones and determined that we like the tacos down the street in Chatsworth better. Tired of travel. Ready to come home to our beautiful family. MIAMI WAS SPLENDID!
