Aanika had quite the month. She lost 3 teeth (2 on top and 1 on the bottom) and discovered her love for Black Sharpie Markers and pretty intense pattern making! I started to digitized her work and we even printed and framed a few pieces in the kitchen. We are so proud of this of our cookie. Can’t wait to see what she gets into next!
If you ask Aanika what she is drawing she says: “I’m making my friends.”
There was a lot of fun events in May this year. I decided to bundle up a few of my favorite pictures and videos and will document them in one post rather than separate ones!
First: My darling Daddy turned 75!! To celebrate Neeru joined us in LA for a quick weekend trip and we all had dinner together. Neeru wrote a beautiful set of poems for Daddy while we gave Dad a custom painting I made. Jatin wrote a pretty candid and funny bit about his Nana looking better without hair, but just in case he would provide Nana with a hair piece from his lego collection.
It’s that time of year again! Lot’s of year end shows and award ceremonies to attend. Jatin and Aanika both performed in the Multicultural Spring Performance. Aanika wasn’t as enthused to perform so I got a cute picture of her in her classroom before the show began. Jatin of course was a total ham and loved shining for everyone! Here we go Cotton Eyed Joe!

Our beautiful little Aaniku turned 6 today! We had Mommy, Daddy, and Uncle & Aunty over for tea time to celebrate. She was so excited that she got a new baby and a new American Girl doll and loved playing with her balloons! Happy Birthday our to our beautiful, naughty, cutie pie!
Aanika loves to be outdoors. It’s the first thing she does when she comes home and preferably barefoot! She loves playing with chalk, using her spray bottle with water and of course riding her car. When she’s pooped out and feeling just a bit tired she finally settles down to watch a little bit of her favorite show Sofia the First. I’ve shared a few of my favorite recent “just Aanika being Aanika” shots below.
Our beautiful baby girl turned 5 this year! Hard to believe! We played hooky with her from school on the day of her birthday and treated her to pancakes and a chocolate chip cookie at the Corner Bakery followed by a visit to Toys R Us where she surveyed the entire store and went home with a rainbow giant panda bear 🙂 The weekend of her birthday we had our family and friends over for a garden tea party and brought in the amazing Mr. B to host an hour drum and music circle program with all the kids. Theme / Rainbows & Music. Happy Birthday Cutie Pie!!!
A little story from the Land of Gundara:
“There once was a beautiful little princess named Aanika. She lived in a beautiful garden and had many friends like Penguin, Zebra, Crocodile and Elephant. But her most favorite and dearest friend was a lovely prince named Froggy. He lived in Aanika’s garden overlooking the beautiful water and every day Aanika went out and played with the lovely golden frog. She took such wonderful care of the frog by picking him up, having long talks with him, playing with him and cuddling with him that he will be eternally loved by his darling princess and will forever be Aanika darlings little frog prince.
Aanika’s favorite character these days is a little statue who lives by our pool named Froggy. Below is a video of Aanika interacting with her darling friend.
The kids are in the same school again this year which is awesome! Jatin entered 4th grade (officially now an upperclassmen) and Aanika is in TK. The best part is they are right next to each other on campus and Jatin got his same teacher, class and friends as last year!
