Aanika received 2 awards today at school! 1 was for excellent attendance *thanks to her mama 😉 and the other was for maintaining a certain gpa. The true win was her attending, walking up with a smile, no anxiety, exciting to get her prize and pose for a few pictures. Proud mama moment. She did great and she won the “best dressed” award hands down!
Hard to believe that our first born beautiful baby turned 16 years old this year! He continues to impress us with his vision, kindness, determination for excellence and love. We are so proud of the young man he’s become and can’t wait to see what’s around the horizon. Happy Birthday Jatin!
Nick was traveling this year on Jatins birthday so we postponed Jatins party with his friends for a few weeks. He had a lovely group of guys over and co-celebrated with twin brothers who also share an October Birthday.
Jatin is about to enter the 11th grade! He decided that it was time for a fresh cut and letting his dad line up his mustache for the first time. ❤️🥹❤️
Aanika cutie pie finished 5th grade today! She did well and walked and got her certificate of completion. Nick and I took her out for Chinese food after to celebrate and then we did a little shopping! Middle school here we come!
Jatin is officially part of marching band. He’s been working hard and staying late after school everyday practicing. Friday was his first football game where he got to perform at half time. He told Nick and I not to come to the first one but another mommy was kind enough to snap some pics for us!! He had so much fun and we cant wait to see him perform during the home coming game.
In August we had our typical LA heat wave. Swam a lot, had a lovely visit from Neera and family and the kids started in person school again after 18 months of quarantine!
Here are the kids first week of school! Jatin started high school 9th grade and Aanika entered 4th grade. They each have to wear a mask at school and have to get weekly covid tests.
Like I said we’ve really enjoyed our pool more than ever…and trying to make sure we get al the days in we can before it gets too cold!
Jatin got his braces off right when he started high school! He looks awesome 🙂 And my beautiful Aanika has been taking full advantage of her backyard and doing lots of art and water play outside. Check out Jatins before and after pics!
Our handsome, funny, sweet Jatin graduated from middle school today! We officially have a high schooler! Hard to imagine! He insisted that he needed to get over a 96% on every final class report card and of course graduated with honors! We’re so proud of him. He got to play with the band in person for graduation. He wore Nicks dress shoes and socks!
We have been in a world of social distancing for over a month now. May 1st has come and we’re realizing that this life is going to stay our new norm. While Los Angeles will slowly start easing up on certain social distance measures it seems pretty apparent that the kids will be homeschooled for the duration of the calendar year, virtual meetings and virtual happy hours are regular events on our calendar and a lot of family outside playtime is in our cards. We’ve adjusted as well as I could have hoped for and continue to introduce fun ways to enjoy our home and beautiful family amidst this pandemic.
We started swimming again and my beautiful Aanika is a total fish and remembered how to swim immediately!
Ping Pong 🏓 has made a home back in our yard and Jatin is getting better everyday.
Nick is turning into a character from Grease with his long locks growing and curling longer each day! And my hair is getting longer and waivier by the minute!
Nick is turning into a professional barber and Jatin told him that it was the best haircut he’s ever had and that he’s enjoying spending time with his Doodis. I think Jatin May have found his barber-dad for life.
Billy and Brownie finally got haircuts and baths too!
The kids are enjoying time with each other and Aanika is doing “her work” daily. We have to take pictures of the work in action and then submit it to her teacher for credit.
And to close this post up I came across a hilarious comic to reflect homeschooling our kids lol!
During Quarantine we’ve been looking through old photo albums and found one of my school pictures from 1989. When we looked at it couldn’t help but immediately see Jatin in the picture! He was a good sport and let me photograph him for his “quarantine school photo” and make a comparison.
Jatin has been playing the saxophone now for 1 year and boy has he picked it up quickly. He is in intermediate and jazz band! We had the pleasure of watching him and his classmates perform on Thursday. They rocked it!
