We attended our fourth year of grinkfest at Grinkers Grand Palace Arcade in Eagle Idaho this year. As usual it fell right on my birthday! This year we flew in a day ahead of the tournament and met up with Mark, Sam and Aaron for dinner and Joker the movie in Boise.
The following morning we went for a lovely breakfast at Goldies in downtown eagle, checked out a local art store and walked downtown a bit before heading to Eagle. Checked into the hotel and then met up with everyone at Grinkers to begin the days events. Aaron managed to get warehouse keys from Steve the owner of Grinkers o the 5 of us headed off for a covert warehouse tour followed by an old fashioned corn maze and petting zoo!
After the afternoon outing we headed into Grinkers to begin 2.5 days of pure fun, gaming and catching up with friends.
My 40th Birthday! October 11, 2019.
Started with our annual tradition of having a quiche Lorraine at the Griddle in Eagle. Then we checked in at Grinkers and checked in for the tournament. In the evening we walked locally to downtown Eagle for birthday Italian dinner at DaVinci’s followed by ice cream in 35 degree weather and a Impromptu Bhangra dance lesson!
The rest of the evening was spent gaming and partying with friends. Had to get in a root beer float and a grilled cheese as always!
Saturday was the last day of the event. Breakfast at McDonald’s followed by a lovely drive through the ranch properties of Eagle. Realized that all dogs are off leash and so happy roaming their neighborhoods and all front doors and porches were decorated so beautifully with pumpkins and fall colors.
Saturday afternoon we took the annual group photo which is always a challenge and fun corralling the whole group together. Gifted Steve with a custom modeled bobble head doll and skateboard which was so beautiful!! Then headed to an entirely too long excursion with the arcade hangout podcast family for wings at BBWW Meridian.
Got back with the group just with enough time to help setup for the awards ceremony and fill in the certificates for the tournament winners. Nick and CraftyMech Aaron hosted one of the three tournaments “The Bit-kit Challenge” which was a huge hit! Nick placed top 10 as always in the black and white tournament and the bit-kit tournament.
Closed up the night with everyone and headed back to the hotel happy and sad as always to leave such a special event as we do every year. Already thinking about Grinkfest8. Till then. Keep gaming.
