Halloween 2024

Welcome Ursula/Uma and Skeleton to the Gundara house! Aanika wore an Ursula costume this year with Jatin’s Captain Jack Sparrow Jacket from his 10th birthday along with a gold shell necklace. She was so cute and allowed me to totally do up her eye makeup and lipstick! She even had a pair of Ursula socks. Jatin re-wore his Skeleton Cobra Kai outfit from a few years ago and I worked on his custom makeup before school. The Gundara clan looked awesome for Halloween! The 4 of us went trick or treating in our neighborhood to say hi to all the neighbors as usual and then Jatin headed off to Sorrento to hand out with friends for the night. Happy Halloween! read more

Witches Night 2024

This year I got to finally host my first annual Witches Evening! I had so much fun planning the decor for a spooky evening. My favorite part was decorating our very long table for the evening. Brought back all the things I’ve stored over the years from my many years admiring Disneyland Imagineer decor and ambiance creativity! All the girls came as good or bad witches. We did a “sisterhood” toast to start the evening along with a splash of champagne with cherry juice to add to the wicked effect. Jatin helped me create an awesome Witch Party Playlist. The evening was a success! Cheer’s Witches. Thank you to our amazing photographer – Jatin. read more

Halloween 2022

The matching witches with Goose from Top Gun wish you a spooky season filled with treats!! Trick or treating was quieter this year but plenty of candy was consumed! Aanika loved to pass by all the spooky houses decorated with giant witches and skeletons. Also threw in a few old Halloween pictures to compare how little Jatin and Aanika used to be. Time flies. Happy Halloween!!

Halloween 2021

Ready for Halloween!

Jatin: 1980’s skeleton

Aanika: Cobra Kai (badass!)

Vani: Karate Kid Miyagi Do Sensei
Nick: Cobra Kai Sensei
Joining forces at last 🙂

Kiddos did go trick or treating this year just to our neighbors houses who of course always spoil the kids with king sized candy bars!

Earlier in the day Jatin and Aakash carved their pumpkin and even cutie pie Aanika joined in for a fleeting few minutes. We ended the evening by starting our annual Harry Potter Marathon! Happy Halloween!! 🎃👻💀🎃

Halloween 2020

Halloween had to be drastically different this year given the inability to trick or treat due to the pandemic. So our beautiful little neighborhood hosted a Celtic court block party. Each family brought pre packages candies and we setup tables with our decorative pumpkins. The kids trick or treated from one table to another and got to ride scooters and hang out afterwards. It was a lovely way to experience Halloween without risking going door to door.

Even Nani rocked a witches hat while helping Aanika get some candy!

The kids and I decorated pumpkins this week as well. Aanika loved squeezing the glitter tube all over the top while I used the crayon sticks to make the face. Then on Halloween day Jatin and I painted a cheeseburger pumpkin!

Aanika darling was a beautiful pink princess and Jatin dressed as Daniel San again. We didn’t spend extra on costumes this year. Decided to recycle instead. And I scrounged up a diy laker girl costume!

The day before Halloween Aanika dresses up as a cat-villain mashup 🙂

Wishing you all a very happy and safe Halloween. Didn’t get any trick or treaters which we were happy about! November 2020 here we come!

Halloween 2019

Halloween this year brought the Karate Kid and 2 princesses into our home! Aanika for the first time chose two costumes online and to my surprise she chose the girliest of all costumes but I was so excited that she was showing interest that I got both costumes for her. Jatin was an easy choice to play Daniel Larusso with our love of Karate a kid and now Cobra Kai. Nana and Nani joined us for trick o treating this year and of course KITT made his yearly appearance! Nick rocked his Cobra Kai jacket while I used Jatin’s Harry Potter robe along with our props.

Halloween 2018

My kiddos rocked Halloween as usual this year!! They were Marty Mcfly and Little Black Cat! Nick and I also got dressed up for a Halloween costume party and won best couple as “Hawaiian Punch”. Jatin went trick or treating with his buddies for the first time unsupervised!! He’s growing up.

Halloween 2016

Halloween-TrickOrTreat-2016-07

Halloween 2016 here we come! Okay, so Jatin and I have been reading and watching all the Harry Potter Films again 😉 so it seemed like a pretty natural choice for him to transform into Harry Potter for Halloween this year! We bought his Hogwarts robe from the costume shop, and then painted an old clip on tie from his closet red and gold and I knocked out the lenses from a cheap pair of gold rimmed glasses and finally we made our own wands out of rolled up paper, hot glue and paint. AMAZING! His costume was awesome and he really did great acting the part and casting spells when needed!

Aaniku has been showing a lot of love for our car collection and the need for speed is apparent so we popped on Jatin’s costume from years ago to make Aaniku the cutest Lightning McQueen of all time. With her naughty expressions and carefree attitude she rocked her outfit! The kids went to school and participated in their halloween parade and festivities. My favorite pictures and videos below.

That evening we had the usual group of friends over for trick o treating in our neighborhood. We started off the evening with a little bit of dancing to thriller (of course!), and once everyone arrived we had some delicious sugary treats (it is Halloween after all) and then ventured off into the neighborhood to collect king sized everything (our neighbors spoil us). Aanika was such a trooper. Really did well and walked for about 30 minutes….and then she looked at Nick and said “Daddy I need to go home, I’m tired…” so we left the group a bit early and let her dig into her candy before the rest of the monkey’s ended up back at home. Awesome Halloween. Spoooooky and fun!
